Our Favorite Things Friday is a new section where we will be sharing things we have and use around our home and from time to time we may add a few wish list items. It will be crafted together on an inspiration board that we create to make it visually appealing, you know kind of like a vision board or dream board. If it is something you like and want to purchase yourself we made it easy for you to just click the picture or link and you will be brought to checkout. The prices and sale items in the inspiration board may differ from the price in the text links so please be sure to check for the lowest cost item if you plan to purchase anything.
Today I thought I would share just a few of our favorite things we love in our kitchen.
The Slate Cheeseboard is one of my favorite entertaining pieces to serve different cheeses on. Originally, I purchased this for one of my friend’s as a thank you for inviting us to stay at her condo in Longboat Key, FL but I loved it so much that, yep, I bought two. One for me and one for her. Me, being the label-er that I am, it is perfect for writing all the names of the gourmet cheeses right on the slate with a little chalk. It makes me look all ‘fancy’ when entertaining!
Bamboo Cutting Block I love the looks of this cutting board more than anything. Even though it is a favorite in our kitchen, we typically use other cutting boards that are less expensive. Everyone in the world probably knows this but me, but do not clean this with baking soda. Didn’t grandma say baking soda cleans everything? I am guessing that when I purchased this at Bed, Bath and Beyond last year that I didn’t fully read how to care for it. I think I was more inspired to find a butcher block like this because we had just finished re-doing the butcher block kitchen counter tops at our little bungalow rental and I fell in love with this natural wood. I did, however, seal it before use with a food grade oil but after that I put some baking soda on it to clean it one day and it turned the wood a greenish color. Lesson learned!
Bagel Toaster Everyone needs one of these, right? Dean doesn’t do carbs anymore and I am trying to cut back but this really comes in handy when the kids are home or we have company. Who can pass up an everything bagel with Trader Joe’s almond butter or flavored cream cheese? Yum!
French Press Enter the French Press coffee maker… when my daughter and son-in-law came back from their year long trip in Honduras this past summer. They fell in love with Honduran coffee and brought back some for us. The only way to get the true authentic flavor of any coffee, we feel, is with a French Press. It is an art that I have grown to love. With the Cold & Slow Brew coffee rave going on right now, the French Press is perfect. Here is a recipe for you to try if you want to try the latest cold brew. We think it tastes just as good as Starbuck’s.
Cuisinart Food Processor Although, this does not get everyday use, when it does get used we are so glad we have it. It gets the most use at our house for making homemade hummus and salsas.
There are a lot more kitchen favorites we have and will visit again but for now we hope you enjoyed the little tour. Leave us a comment below and let us know what some of your kitchen favorites are.
