Your bedroom decorating ideas are usually inspired from flipping through home decor magazines, Pinterest or just searching the web for something that sparks joy in what you see. Whether you are looking for cottage style, farmhouse decor or traditional bedroom decorating ideas, everything is pretty much at our fingertips these days which I personally am very grateful for.
I think back, way way back, to interior design courses I took in college and respect, in a way, that for the most part I had to design from originality and my own creativity. Our design boards back then consisted of large cardboard display boards with samples of carpet, wallpaper design, paint and textiles glued on the board. We call those design boards or mood boards now and have the ease in which to easily drag and drop our selections and click save. It all looks pretty and solves a convenience purpose for clients but I miss the old touch and feel of the textures and fabrics. I know that it hasn’t completely gone away because I recently saw the handmade design board on one of the home remodeling shows and immediately thought hey, he’s old school, I like it.
I have pulled together some bedroom decorating ideas for you today to get some of your own creativity flowing whether it is decorating a guest room in a Holiday theme or just adding a slightly new touch of decor to your own bedroom. Enjoy the tour!
You may have remembered our coastal bedroom guest room where we had a comforter (similar) to this. I love it because it is so versatile with several different colors that you can mix and match with gray.
Can’t you see two of these wall sconces mounted on each side of your bed for night time reading of your favorite book or magazine?
I chose yellow for this rug because it reminds me of sunshine. We all need to wake up to a little bright and cheery sunshine every morning. A 4′ x 6′ floor rug is a good size to add to an average size bedroom. If yellow isn’t in your color scheme then choose a neutral or your favorite color. Geometric designs are in, if you haven’t heard yet.
Ahh, if Christmas could be year round and we could cozy up to this room every night. I love the idea of taking ideas from this design and using to decorate your guest room for the holidays. Wouldn’t they be surprised?
What can I say? Gray and aqua together has not tired with me yet. That fluffy rug looks like the perfect spot to lay down with the kids and play a game of scrabble on a Sunday morning.
The only thing, besides the aqua, that caught my eye in this bedroom was the mixture of bold print pillows. I love all the different designs of print next to the solids. I love that not all the print pillows match. Not everything has to be matchy-matchy!
Of course, this cute night stand can be added to just about any design but you don’t have to have the same one on the other side of the bed.
I just liked this. This rustic Christmas wall art can absolutely be hung in your bedroom or any where in your home for the holidays. Why not wake up with the reminder of the holidays every morning?
Everyone needs a starburst mirror ( just because, right?
And a monogrammed pillow to top it off.
